Your Privacy Matters
This Privacy Policy explains how the Julio Guzman for Mayor of Homestead campaign ("Campaign," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit julioformayor.com (including visitors redirected from votejulioguzman.com), sign our supporter pledge, volunteer, or contact us.
Campaign Address: 47 N Krome Ave, Homestead, FL 33030
Privacy contact: info@julioformayor.com | +1 (786) 229-0157
Information We Collect, and Why
Supporter pledge (pledge.html). When you sign the pledge we collect:
- Name, email address, and mobile number, to record your pledge, avoid duplicate entries, and contact you only through the channels you agree to.
- Home address, plus the map location (latitude/longitude) and ZIP code taken from the address you choose, to check whether you live inside Homestead city limits and to organize neighborhood outreach.
- Voting information you share: the number of registered voters in your household, whether you are registered at that address, and how you plan to vote, so we can send relevant reminders (for example, when to request a mail ballot).
- Optional answers: the issues that matter most to you, ways you would like to help, your preferred language, and your preferred contact method, so we can follow up appropriately.
- Your typed name confirming the pledge, to show the pledge was made by you.
- Your contact permission: the exact permission wording shown when you signed, its version, the language, and the date and time, so we keep an accurate record of what you agreed to and of any later opt-outs.
- Referral and source codes in the link you used (for example, a friend's share code or an event code), to understand which outreach is working. After you sign, you receive a random share code that does not contain your name or phone number.
The pledge is a statement of support. It is not an official candidate petition, voter registration, or ballot request.
Public voter records. Florida voter registration records are public. Like other campaigns, we obtain them from the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and use them only for election-related purposes, such as confirming registration status, comparing them with pledge information, and planning outreach. We do not publish the results or sell the records.
Volunteer and contact forms (volunteer.html, contact.html). These forms open your own email app with your details filled in. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and the information (name, email, phone, ZIP code, how you'd like to help, your message, and the contact permission shown on the form) reaches us only as an email to info@julioformayor.com. We use it to respond and to coordinate volunteer activity.
Contributions. This website does not process donations online. If you contribute, we collect the information Florida campaign finance law requires, such as your name, address, occupation, and the amount, and report it as described below.
Information collected automatically. We do not use advertising trackers, analytics tools, or tracking pixels on this site. Our website host (GitHub Pages) and the services that deliver the map and form features may record standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested, under their own privacy policies. Your browser stores your language choice (English, Español, Kreyòl) locally on your device; we do not receive it unless you submit a form.
Contact Permissions: Email, Text, and Phone
When you sign the pledge or the volunteer form, the notice above the submit button explains that by submitting you agree that the campaign may contact you by email, text message, and phone call at the contact information you provided. This includes automated texts and calls and prerecorded messages, with campaign updates and voting reminders. We record the wording you saw and when you submitted.
You stay in control of each type of contact. You can opt out of email, texts, or calls separately, or all at once, at any time, and opting out never affects your pledge.
The campaign may also contact registered voters using public voter records (for example, door-to-door visits, mail, or email). We send automated or prerecorded calls and automated text messages only to people who have agreed to receive them. Whatever the source of your contact information, you can opt out using the methods below, and we will honor it.
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email, or email info@julioformayor.com. Campaign emails identify the campaign, include our mailing address, and offer a working unsubscribe option. We process unsubscribe requests promptly and within 10 business days.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any campaign text to stop receiving them, or HELP for help. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply.
- Phone calls: tell the caller you do not want further calls, or contact us at the email or phone number above. We add you to our internal do-not-call list. Campaign calls identify who paid for them and are placed only between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. local time.
Opting out of one channel does not opt you out of the others unless you ask. If you opt out of all contact, we also remove your information as described under "Removing Your Information" below. Mobile numbers and text-message consent are not shared with third parties for their own marketing; see Messaging Terms below.
Messaging Terms (Text Messages)
- Program: Julio Guzman for Mayor of Homestead campaign updates and voting reminders.
- Who receives texts: only people who gave us their mobile number on a form that discloses text messaging, or who otherwise agreed to receive texts, and only at that number.
- Frequency: varies, typically a few messages per month and more near election dates.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Opt out: reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any message. You will get one confirmation and no further texts unless you opt in again.
- Help: reply HELP, or contact info@julioformayor.com or +1 (786) 229-0157.
- Sharing: mobile numbers and text-message consent are not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. They are shared only with the messaging service that delivers our texts.
- Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How We Store and Protect Information
- Pledge information is stored in a secured database hosted by our database provider, Supabase. Data is encrypted in transit between your browser and the database.
- The website's public key can only submit a pledge and read the total supporter count; it cannot read anyone's pledge.
- Only authorized campaign staff with individual accounts can view supporter records, and only for campaign purposes.
- The pledge form does not reveal whether an email address or phone number is already on file, and a later submission cannot change the name, email, phone number, or address on an existing pledge. Corrections are made by staff on request.
- The record of contact permissions is kept as a log that campaign staff cannot edit or delete.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it. If we learn of a security breach involving your personal information, we will notify affected people without unreasonable delay, and within 30 days where feasible, and will notify authorities where the law requires.
Service Providers and Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers who operate the tools we use, and only as needed to provide those services: Supabase (pledge database), Google Maps Platform (address suggestions and the city-limits map; the address you type is sent to Google), GitHub Pages (website hosting), jsDelivr (delivers software code used by the pledge form), and our email provider. If we use a text-messaging or calling service, it will receive only the contact details needed to reach people who agreed to that channel.
- As required by law, including Florida campaign finance reporting, or in response to a valid legal request.
Florida Campaign Finance Disclosure
Campaign contributions are reported to the appropriate filing officer as required by Florida law. These reports are public records and may include contributor names, addresses, occupations, contribution amounts, and other information required by law.
How Long We Keep Information
- Pledge, volunteer, and contact information: kept for the 2027 Homestead municipal election cycle and deleted or de-identified within 12 months after the campaign's final election, unless you opt out of all contact sooner (see below).
- Contact permission and opt-out records: kept as long as we hold your contact information, and opt-out records for as long as needed to keep honoring your choice.
- Contribution records: kept for the period required by Florida campaign finance law.
Your Choices: Access, Correction, and Removing Your Information
- Access or correction: email info@julioformayor.com to ask what pledge information we hold about you or to correct it.
- Removing your information: opting out of all campaign contact is how you ask us to remove your information. You can do this by unsubscribing from our emails and replying STOP to our texts, or by emailing info@julioformayor.com and asking to be removed. When you opt out of all contact, we remove your address, voting answers, issues, and notes from our records. We keep only your name, email address, and phone number, marked do-not-contact, so that we never contact you again, along with any information the law requires us to keep, such as contribution records. Opting out of only one type of contact (for example, texts) stops that contact but does not remove the rest of your information.
- Withdrawing contact permission: see "Contact Permissions" above. You can withdraw any permission at any time.
Children's Privacy
This website is intended for adults. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. If we change how we use contact information you already gave us, we will ask for your permission again where required.
